W3 Total Cache Prevented FeedBurner Feed from Updating
A few weeks back I noticed that the RSS FeedBurner feed wasn’t updating for Technically Easy. Each time a post was published, the WordPress RSS feed would be updated, but the FeedBurner feed wasn’t updated to show the new post.
I went through the troubleshooting page on the FeedBurner website, but the steps outlined didn’t correct the problem. I then started to look at the caching plugin that I was using: W3 Total Cache. The plugin cached the RSS feed on my blog, but for some reason it started to cause problems with FeedBurner.

Traffic Stats: May 2011
In terms of traffic, I had a goal going into the month of May: reach 100,000 pageviews. I had come close in April, with just over 94,000 pageviews, so I figured that the next logical goal was to hit 100K.
I watched my traffic move up and down through the month, and at times it didn’t seem like I would reach my goal in May. When I looked at the final traffic numbers, I had actually achieve my traffic goal in pageviews. The traffic stats for May 2011 are below.

Traffic Stats: June 2011
Last month traffic for Technically Easy started off where May ended. I received steady traffic throughout the month, and also had my one day best total ever for this blog. I once again learned that with blogging there are going to good days and bad days as I also had my worst traffic day in about a year a few days later.
Blogging can be frustrating at times, mainly because when it comes to traffic there is very little that we can control. Sure we can look at generating backlinks, and use social networking to the best of our ability, but in reality, those methods just help enable traffic, it doesn’t guarantee that our blog will actually receive traffic. Let’s look at last month’s traffic numbers so you can see what I mean.

How Do You Measure Your Blog’s Success?
A few months ago I started reporting my traffic statistics at the start of each month. The traffic numbers are from the previous month, and I always compare the values with the same month the previous year. I know of many other bloggers that also report their traffic statistics, and also their earnings.
I am not a big fan of posting the earnings I make with Technically Easy, but I don’t mind sharing the traffic numbers. I only recently started to report my traffic numbers as a way for me to keep a record of my numbers and to ensure that those same numbers increase month-over-month. The one question I have been asking myself as I post the traffic statistics is how do I really measure my blog’s success?
