It evaluates the academic strengths and preparedness of the candidates for college. It is essential to point out that the SAT exam serves the same purpose as the ACT test.

These exams are used by institutions to form a part of their admission process requirements along with other factors, such as class rank, high school grades, extracurricular activities, recommendations, and community service. The purpose of the SAT is to evaluate the capability of the candidate in the core areas of mathematics, reading, and writing.

The passing score ranges from 200 to 800 on each section. In total, there are seven exam dates for the SAT in the United States, the United States Territories, and Puerto Rico.

The core areas that you will be measured include your skills in sentence completions and passage based reading. It checks your ability to analyze and use information, which is important for college education.

They will be tested on algebra and functions, number and operations, data analysis, probability, geometry and measurement, and statistics.

Many students in high schools usually take their SAT exams for the first time in the spring of their junior year. In case you don’t pass the test, you can retake it. For registration, you will need to visit the SAT official website and create an account. You will be required to provide some basic personal information to validate your account.

You will get the Admission ticket, which you must bring with you on your test day along with the photo ID.

It is worth mentioning that online registration is the easiest one, but some students must mail a registration paper form. The reasons include the situations when the candidates can’t sit for the test on Saturday (for religious reasons) or want to take it closer to their home. One more reason is the age under 13.

How much is the SAT registration fee?

There are different fees associated with the SAT exam registration. The general basic registration fee is about $50. Apart from the standard registration fees, there are also some additional ones that are charged for changes to test types, phone registrations, dates or locations changes, and late registrations.

You may also be required to pay some fees that are associated with sending your test scores to institutions. If you require additional information about specific questions and answers relating to your test, you will also have to pay a fee. It is essential to mention that all the registration and exam fees are non refundable.

How are the SAT test scores computed?

The SAT exam is made up of three different sections, namely, Mathematics, Writing, and Critical Reading. Each section is scored on a scale of 200-800. The total potential score of the students on the SAT test is 2400. Additionally, the candidates will receive two sub-scores on the Writing section, that is, an essay score that ranges from 2 to 12.

There is also a multiple-choice score that is from 20 to 80. The main scores on the SAT is generated by giving each student one point for every correct answer and deducting ¼ point for every incorrect answer. When you skip a question, it is not counted towards your potential scores.

The scores obtained from the above are referred to as the raw scores. After computing your raw score, it will be adapted into a scaled-score in the 200-800 range through a statistical method known as ‘equating’.

You will be able to determine your performance in the SAT exam by comparing your scores with those of others who have written the test with you. You can do this by looking at the rank of your percentile. It is recommended that you compare your scores with those students who enrolled in your prospective colleges.

5 Lessons I Have Learned About Blogging

When I started blogging in June 2007 I really didn’t know how to manage a blog or even how long I can keep writing blog entries. Like many people, I tend to start something that interests me at the time, but then get bored and move onto something else. With that thinking, I started using Blogger since it required no financial commitment, just time. After a year, I discovered that I did like to manage a blog, so I switched to a self-hosted WordPress blog, and haven’t looked back.

Over the past seven years of managing this blog I have learned many lessons, and have experienced many facets of not only blogging but websites, in general. I have made mistakes, and learned from those mistakes, but have also enjoyed a few successes. I have blogged about both the mistakes I have made and the successes I have achieved, so now I feel I should give an update on the lessons I have learned about blogging.

  • Is LastPass Secure?

    Is LastPass Secure?

LastPass is a popular cloud-based password manager that has quickly become popular for those looking for an easy solution to create and keep their passwords safe. There are many software and cloud-based solutions available for managing passwords, such as RoboForm and KeePass, but for many users – myself included – LastPass is what they prefer.

Of course, as with any software that stores personal information, the question on how secure LastPass really is has come up in many discussions online. The “Trust No One” mentality has led many to believe that unless they can see the source, they won’t trust the software. This is one reason many prefer KeePass over LastPass. KeePass is open source (can be reviewed/fixed by anyone), while LastPass is closed (can only be reviewed and modified by the developers)

I endorse and use LastPass for all my passwords, but haven’t really looked into how LastPass manages my personal information, from the time I enter it into their browser add-in. I was curious at what is sent to LastPass, and the software does exactly what the developer says it does to secure my personal information. The good news is that there are ways of finding out, and in this post I will share my findings so you can make an informed decision, not just a decision based on what others say on the Internet. I am hoping that my tests will answer the question – is LastPass secure?

How You Can Create Stronger Passwords

It seems that news about a breach of security that results in the stealing of usernames and passwords seems to be an everyday occurrence these days. The news, from Hold Security, that Russian hackers have created a list of 1.2 billion usernames and passwords come as a surprise because of the number of login credentials that have been stolen.

In order to protect your online identity and data, here are some tips to help you create stronger passwords to help keep the hackers at bay.

What Will the Internet Look Like in 100 Years? [Infographic]

I remember when I first connected to the world wide web back in the mid-90’s. At the time I connected using a modem that was connected to the telephone line that transferred data at a maximum of 14.4 kbps. The squeal of the modem as it connected is something that I will always remember along with the disconnects that happened when the phone was in use. Times have changed considerably since then.

Technology is always changing as the way we connect gets faster, and the amount of data we store and share gets larger. The progressions of technology over the past 10, 20, and 30 years has astounded many people, and we are at a point where most of us are dependent on technology to some degree, and carry it everywhere we go (smartphones, tablets, etc.). It makes me wonder where technology will be in the next 100 years.
