Technology has given the world a lot of benefits. With a new and open forum, communicating with one another has never been so much easier. We can call, chat, and send SMS messages to each other all within a hand’s grasp of our smartphone. For texting, one doesn’t even need a smartphone. A mobile phone is more than enough to send out a text message.
All you need is a halfway decent texting plan with your service provider and you could be on your way to chatting away with anyone who too has a phone. And stats already say that texting is the fastest growing mode of communication when it comes to popularity, and has already surpassed phone calls. Millions of people text on a daily basis and billions of texts are sent out to users across the globe.
So how does one go about forging a persona in a faceless text world? It’s all about style! Different people have different styles of communication. This is also true for texting. Individuals usually take on personas when texting, all depending on their moods and on the person they are texting. A simple example of this would be that when texting parents, teens tend to short and to the point but when it comes to friends no details are spared. And so, keeping in mind the various styles, it’s not hard to trace out a personality.
When texting, there are the ‘professors’ for one, those people who give too many details and text long messages that become a bother to read. Then there are the lovebirds or ‘couple’ type; those individuals who ignore the world but have long and continuous conversations with their partner harping on about their emotional states. These skilled individuals sleep with their phone in their hand and seem to have mastered the ability to text while doing anything else imaginable!
Then there are the even more irksome, ‘rapper’ texters. These folks type out highly creative but impossible to understand messages. They sound like they are lyrics to a rap song but don’t seem to hold any clear meanings. In other words, they come with an array of misspelled words and wrongly punctuated sentences – something fit to give any English teacher palpitations!
Of course there are many many other texters that we haven’t yet talked about. If you see someone we’ve missed out on, give it a go and tell us about it!
