  • Removing Broken Links in Your WordPress Blog

Removing Broken Links in Your WordPress Blog

Removing broken links from your WordPress blog is important, not only from a SEO perspective, but also from a usability standpoint. In my last post I talked about managing your WordPress database using the WP-DBManager plugin. This plugin was one of two that I installed to help manage Technically Easy. This week I will look at another.

One of the difficult tasks to perform with regards to a WordPress blog is the process in finding and removing broken links in your posts. If you have been blogging for many years, then chances are many of your older posts have links that no longer work. The plugin I will discuss in this post finds and notifies you of all broken links it finds in your posts.

  • Managing Your WordPress Database

    Managing Your WordPress Database

Since switching to WordPress in August 2007, I have been looking at the many plugins that can be installed to enhance the functionality of Technically Easy. There are plugins that affect the look and feel of a blog, others that help to increase the speed, and still others that add functionality. As I looked through the list of plugins that I currently use, I noticed that I don’t have any that actually help me administer Technically Easy.

Last week I decided to look for plugins that will help me administer Technically Easy from the WordPress dashboard. I managed to find two plugins that I found really useful. I will review each one this week, beginning with a plugin that will help manage the database.

  • Entrecard Out, CMF Ads In

I have recently switched my advertising at the top of my right sidebar from Entrecard to CMF Ads. While Entrecard was great to me when I started my blog, I felt it had run it’s course and it was time to switch.

Similar to Entrecard, CMF Ads allows me to display ads from those wishing to advertise on my site using a square 125px banner. While many may look at the widget and think it is the same as Entrecard, you will be mistaken. In this post I will look at CMF Ads and discuss the differences between CMF Ads and Entrecard.

  • OIOpublisher: The Easy Way to Provide Ad Space on Your Blog

For the past few months I have offered private advertising on Technically Easy. You can see the banner ads in my right sidebar, and in the header. In the past I have tried various online ad providers, but didn’t have much success. When I did have success, I was usually paid a percentage of what I actually charged.

A few months ago I looked into OIOpublisher, which is a WordPress plugin. Since then I have sold several ad spaces through OIOpublisher, and have made 100% of what I sold. In this post I look at OIOpublisher and what it provides in terms of advertising for your blog.

  • OIOpublisher Limiting Price to 999 Entrecard Credits

I use OIOpublisher for providing advertising on Technically Easy. I have found it very easy to use, and the support I have received has been excellent. I have, however, run into a problem when I offered advertising on my blog for Entrecard credits. When I recently purchased advertising on other blogs with OIOpublisher using Entrecard credits, I realized that others were having the same issue.

I eventually corrected the problem, and explain what the problem is and how to fix it in this post.

  • How to Add a Google Sitemap for Blogger Blogs

I have seen many questions regarding adding a Sitemap to Google’s Webmaster Tools for a Blogger blog. Many people don’t know that you already have a Sitemap-ready file created for you by Blogger, and that all you need to do is use that one in Webmaster Tools.

In this post I will look at adding your Blogger blog’s Sitemap to the Webmaster Tools so you can keep track of your pages using those tools.

  • How to Change Your Comment Links in Blogger to DoFollow

How to Change Your Comment Links in Blogger to DoFollow

There is always much talk about nofollow and dofollow links on web sites. Much of the discussion is about whether you should make a link nofollow. For blogs, this discussion is centered more around the links in the comments of a blog post. Many visitors may leave a comment in an effort to get a free link back to their blog with a dofollow comment link.

In WordPress you have plugins that can control whether a link in the comments is nofollow or dofollow. In Blogger blogs, however, the default is to use nofollow links in the comments of the posts. In this post I will explain how to change the comment links in a Blogger blog to dofollow, if you would like to make the change.

  • CMF Ads and CMF Direct

Many of those that write blogs usually end up monetizing them in some way. Whether it is through pay-pre-click ads, using one of the many banner selling networks, or directly selling ads, many try to make a few dollars with their blog. The problem with many of those blogs is that they lack one thing: visitors.

While they may have several hundred visitors a day, or just over a thousand, it may not be enough to sell advertising at a decent price. This is where CMF Ads comes into play – by combining the visitors from several blogs to provide much more pageviews for an advertiser than a single blog could obtain. Its companion site, CMF Direct, will help those who have monetized their blog by providing an easy way for a protential advertiser to see what advertising is available on their blog.
