These days, you can find everything from the latest iPhone specifications to more information about Lenovo products with just a few clicks of a button. Technology is everywhere but as well as desktop computers, laptops and super-portable tablets there are also a host of gadgets designed to keep your little ones fit, well and safe, so check out these examples.
Mother
An Internet of Things was one of the major concepts at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Nevada. This concept refers loosely to anything that connects the Internet to the outside world and has been embraced by Sen.se’s latest invention Mother. Thanks to an intelligent Mother hub and a range of sensors (which can be attached to almost anything), this quirky home management system can keep track of your brood.
Each sensor sends messages to the hub, which can then be forwarded to another smart device and will monitor everything from motion to temperature. Mother doesn’t miss a thing and can even tell you how many drinks your children are consuming or whether they’re brushing their teeth properly.
FiLIP
If a state of panic sets in whenever you loose sight of your kids, FiLIP could be just what you need. Named after the founder’s son, the FiLIP is a little device for a big world and is the very first wearable smart locator and phone for kids. It introduces technology to little people but its main purpose is to keep them safe. Used with the FiLIPS app, you can pre-program five contacts that your child can call meaning they’ll always have someone to talk to if you’re not instantly available.
Those five contacts can also contact your child. Thanks to GPS and Wi-Fi hotspots, you can also track you little one’s location and will receive notification if they go out of their safe zone. If your child is in an emergency they can also press the red button and the device will automatically call the designated numbers, start recording and update their location every 60 seconds.
Sqord
Smartwatches and fitness bands were another big trend at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show and it’s clear to see why. They’re easy to wear, are pleasing on the eye (thanks to many brands teaming up with well-known fashion designers) and have an array of clever features. While some of the devices are not child friendly, however, others are such as the Sqord especially designed for young ones.
This wearable device fits nicely on the wrist and encourages your child to get fit and active by offering praise, encouragement and rewards. They can also create their very own PowerMe character and compete against other Sqord users for medals and bragging rights. Child obesity has become a major issue in recent years and this is one of the smart devices that can keep your little monkey’s fit and well.
Being a parent isn’t easy but these gadgets can make things run a bit more smoothly.
