Technically Easy is Moving to WordPress

After some careful thought I decided to convert Technically Easy from a Blogger blog to a WordPress blog. I had been mulling this conversion over for some time, but have put off doing it. I have liked using Blogger because of the ease of its use. Now i think it is time for me to move to a different platform.

The conversion will not take place immediately, but over a period of time. Until the conversion is complete, Technically Easy will still be housed at Blogger. I will elaborate more on my thoughts regarding the conversion in this post.

Why I Decided to Convert to WordPress?

Blogger to WordPress

People that have met me know that I am a technical person. I have a strong development background, which includes managing databases. I have developed both Windows and Web applications, and continue to do so.

For the past little while my technical drive has been kept in check with Technically Easy being housed on Blogger. Over the last month I hve had more of a desire to have more control over the coding aspect of my blog. Last week I decided to give into my urge to code and signed up for a host and began to create my WordPress version of Technically Easy.

I have been learning how a WordPress blog is constructed and about various aspects, such as plugins, about WordPress. I have downloaded and slightly modified a template, and have set up some static pages.

There are still some things that need to be completed before I move from Blogger to WordPress, which should be completed in the coming week or weeks. Until then I have decided to allow you to view what I have so far, and look forward to your feedback on how the WordPress blog is coming along.

Future of Blogger Posts

I have written many Blogger related posts on Technically Easy, and they have become some of my most commented and discussed posts. Moving Technically Easy to WordPress will not prevent me from writing more Blogger posts in the future. I will continue to use my Blogger account, and will still answer any questions you may have regarding the platform.

In addition to Blogger posts, I will, hopefully, also be providing posts related to WordPress. I will dive into the world of PHP and learn its syntax and how to access the database in an effort to construct my own code. I will share any knowledge that I may gain from this.

I am hoping to make the conversion as painless as possible for my visitors, to the point where it will only look like a template change. There may a few issues that will arise, however, I am happy to finally be moving to the WordPress platform.
