Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P Review

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P is a device for the new-age office goer, who can work from home or a businessman with a fledgling business without the luxury of space. Although the device is called a PC, it is more of a tiny PC, a pocket size version, a computer with support. It’s compact and cute and you can place it under your desk or behind other system screens and optimize your system needs for your work place.

So think of it as your adapter to which you connect all your monitors- up to four at a time.

For something this small- it’s even called Tiny- (7.1″ width, 1.4″ height and 7.2″ depth), the Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P packs such whopping punch. Here are a few things for you to think about:

  • Intel Core i5-3470T dual-core Ivy Bridge CPU
  • 2.9GHz
  • 3.6GHz with Intel’s Max Turbo Frequency
  • 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
  • Separate graphics card- All that integrated graphics is good but not enough for you gamers, who might not like the end result of the graphics.
  • LCD based on IPS
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • Webcam which is VoIP-certified and comes with microphones that cancels out noise.
  • 500 GB hard drive
  • The PC has vast storage as we have seen and if you like, you can give up space for speed. If that doesn’t suit you, take heart from the USB ports that are four in number. What you’re getting is the VGA, Ethernet, with gigabit, DisplayPort, and a jack for mike and headphones. It is not yet Wi-Fi enabled yet so an adapter needs to be picked up.

You might also enjoy the optical drive which is your basic DVD+R DL RW and if you’re wondering about the absence of a Blu-ray drive, remember that’s what’s keeping the prices down. The Lenovo becomes a desktop, thanks to the ability to attach the machine or Lenovo’s own monitor to the wall.

Lenovo’s Intelligent Cooling Engine provides good efficiency and great cooling. For all you eco- friendly people, this device is as green as they come with a 5.2 Energy Star, EPEAT Gold and Cisco EnergyWise certifications. This is great news for the planet and for your establishment when you want to invest in a good, clean and efficient system.

On the down side, there’s the lack of Wi-Fi and Blu-Ray that we’ve already talked about. Add to that the lack of stereo output and HDMI makes things a little difficult for a device that wants to be a machine that combines all sorts of media. But if it’s not a great media machine, then it’s certainly a machine meant for businesses and business owners.

As you can see, the Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P comes with many pluses and a few minuses. Its greatest advantages are great security and the ability to remote control the device. And coming as it does, with the backing of Lenovo and its technology, this is a great machine that serves the purpose and far surpasses what it was built for.
