  • Review: Themes That Don’t Suck

Since I started offering free reviews in November 2007, I have done mostly blog reviews. Blogs are easy to review since I always look for the same specific information. Web sites, on the other hand, are more complex as there is no ideal standard which I can follow.

This week I will look at a web site that offers WordPress templates. I haven’t used WordPress myself, so I couldn’t have a closer look at the templates. According to the webmaster, though, these themes don’t suck. The next question is whether the web site can use the same tagline?

  • WordPress or Blogger: Which Platform to Choose?

WordPress or Blogger: Which Platform to Choose?

There are currently millions of blogs on the Internet today discussing every imaginable topic. Each day there appears to be many new people starting up their own blog to express their views and opinions. One question I have seen frequently is regarding which blog platform should be used. There currently are several platforms to choose from, but there are two that probably make up the bulk of all blogs online today – WordPress and Blogger.

In this post I will discuss these two platforms, but not from a WordPress versus Blogger stance. I will provide information regarding each platform that will, hopefully, help you choose which one is better suited to your needs.

  • How to Hide the Posted By Line in Blogger

I recently received an e-mail asking about removing the “Posted By” line for posts on Blogger. The technique for removing this line is similar to removing such things as the date line from a post.

In this post I will provide two ways to remove the line. The first method will show how to removed the line for all posts, while the second method will show you how to remove the line from static pages.

  • Review: NASCAR Racing’s Biggest Fan Ron Ripple

Some time ago I reviewed a blog about F1 racing called F1-ToGo, which up to this point has been the only racing web site I reviewed. That changes this week as I review another racing blog.

Unlike the last racing review, this one is focused around NASCAR, and from what you will see it is just as well done as the F1 blog.

  • Entrecard – the Ultimate Blog Widget

I have written about Entrecard in the past, and have benefited from using the widget on my blog. I mentioned that for new blogs Entrecard can help generate traffic and subscribers.

This past week Entrecard announced a partnership with SezWho. It was a much anticipated announcement among the Entrecard faithful, but the question is what does this mean to those that use Entrecard?

  • Create Static Pages in Blogger – Part 2

    Note:
Blogger now supports static pages. To learn how to create pages in Blogger, follow the instructions outlined in How to Create Pages in Blogger.

I recently wrote a post titled How to Create Static Pages in Blogger where I discussed one method of using posts to mimic static pages. One question that was asked involved removing the static pages from the post archives in Blogger. From what I have seen, you can’t prevent a post from being added to the archives, which would make all static posts appear.

Using my programming background, I decided to find a way to prevent the static pages from appearing in the archives. When experimenting with different methods, I finally came up with a method that works, as well as allows commenting on the static pages. This post explains how to create this type of static page.

  • Review: Fussy Baby

As a parent of two young children, I know how frustrating it can be when your child is constantly crying and doesn’t seem to want to stop. Raising a child under such circumstances is very difficult, and at times can cause you to lose your nerves.

This week I review a web site, not a blog, that provides information on getting you and your baby through the difficult days. Those with infants and young children may find the site very interesting.

  • How To Show Elements When Viewing Posts

When I was thinking about writing this post I originally intended on discussing how to add a Digg button to each post in a Blogger blog. After some thought I decided to expand on that idea and explain how to show items when a visitor displays a post.

On Technically Easy I have a few items that are only displayed when a visitor views a post. These items include the Digg button, the recent posts in the right sidebar, and the social network links in the comments bar at the end of each post. In this post I will show you how easy it is to accomplish this.
