American Express OPEN Forum

Considered one of the very best mobile apps for business training, OPEN Forum offers articles, videos, discussion boards and events to help small business owners grow their businesses. This app provides a hub for ideas and insights from industry experts as well as tools to help business owners gain leads. This is an online community for business owners that was launched back in 2007 with the idea of providing business owners with a forum they can use to better themselves and their businesses via soft skill training and all types of business training provided by successful entrepreneurs so that they can acquire new customers and build loyalty to retain existing customers.

Each week, the editors of OPEN Forum round up the most compelling entrepreneurial news and advice from its contributors and others. For instance, one week you may find an article that provides tips on how to learn to increase organizational empathy by having employees take soft skills training or a piece that instructs retailers how to save money on shipping by putting it back into the business model. OPEN Forum is a virtual goldmine chock full of information any small business owner can use to help them succeed in their business endeavors.

Considered one of the most innovative and handy mobile apps for business training, Skill-Pill from Skill-Pill M-Learning Ltd is an app that consists of 2-minute videos that can be viewed on the go via your smartphone. These short, business training videos allows you to pick up new information and skills needed without having to sit through instructional courses in a training room. Instead, the videos you wish to watch can be simply downloaded and viewed when needed. For example, if you’re on the road and wish to brush up on certain soft skills training while waiting to meet a client, you can just download the video and take an on-the-go refresher course.

If your job demands that you learn software applications from Google, Microsoft, Apple or Adobe, you’ll want to download the Lynda.com training library. This app can truly be a real life saver if you’re working under tight deadlines with little time to learn new skills.

With an impressive library of more than 1,000 titles, this is one of the few mobile apps for working professionals that chops lengthy courses into easy-to-find segments. In other words, if you know what you need to learn, you can very easily target the right videos and if you don’t, you can watch a series of videos in chronological order to gain a more complete understanding of the material. Lynda.com does provide a range of business training courses but the real gems on offer are high-end software and digital skills like 3D animation and scripting.

I have been recently combing througha lot of literature on mobile learning and definitely agree with you that it is changing how people approach training in turn changing how learning interventions are designed. However, as Iā€™m sharing this passion with my colleagues here in at SU, a critique is that 1)m-learning technologies may only just be a fad, and 2) better research needs to be done that objectively demonstrates that mobile learning is actually doing what it claims.
