The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was full of new smartphones. Of course it can be difficult to differentiate the top of the pack for individuals that consider themselves novices to the world of smartphones. 1. Droid Razr Maxx
The Droid Razr Maxx from Motorola has several new features thus far unable to be found in any other phones using the Android operating system. One of the most impressive things about this new Droid is the amount of processing power you get weighed with the battery life.
The Razr Maxx has a dual core processor and sports 368 hours standby time and 21 hours of talk time on a single charge. Thus far this phone is only being released for Verizon Wireless. Verizon is happy to announce that is features a much more advanced and sensitive touch screen. IN addition to this the phone is one of the smallest and lightest phones capable of using the Android operating system.
Years Ago the Razr phone was groundbreaking due to its technological capabilities coupled with its razor thin design. The new Droid Razr Maxx is no different. This is definitely the most exciting thing out there that using the Droid interface.
2. HTC Titan II
HTC has made a name for themselves in phones as of recent. Their newest phone available on the AT&T Wireless network is no exception. This phone allows some of the most in depth multimedia features seen to date.
The HTC Titan II is the first to support LTE, and in addition to that features an industry first 16 Megapixel camera! IN addition to this there is also a front facing camera which features the option to do video calls over Wi-Fi and supports up to 1.3 megapixels.
This phone features the new Mango OS from Windows 7.5. This means you will be able to run a myriad of applications on it and be able to sync it with your other windows devices with the greatest of ease. If you’re not a customer of AT&T or thinking about switching the HTC Titan II may be the perfect reason to do so.
3. Galaxy Note
The Galaxy Note by Samsung may seem as though it sounds a little strange. However, it was without a doubt one of the most talked about devices on display at the CES 2012. The Note is a hybrid of a tablet and a smartphone and is definitely going to be one of the hottest sellers out there when it hits the U.S. markets.
The High Definition screen of the Note is 5.3 inches and provides a colorfully bright and rich viewing experience. The stylus for the device, known as the S Pen, will allow the creation of very fine lines that are reminiscent of putting a pen to paper, which is getting smartphone enthusiasts geared up for its release.
The Galaxy Note features an internal memory of 16GB and is expandable via microSD Card to 32. The front facing camera on the new galaxy features a 2 megapixel camera, whereas the standard camera with the device supports up to 8 megapixels. This is a great addition to AT&Ts stunning line up coming onto the market for this year. This is a very unique device and will more than likely be difficult to keep in stores.
4. Lumia 900
Nokia’s new Lumia 900 is a new 4G compatible device for AT&T that will run the Windows operating system. Like the HTC Titan II it will use the Mano version of Windows 7.5 mobile. Which means it will be capable of using Internet Explorer 9. This makes transitioning from using a Windows device to a smartphone that much easier.The Lumia is capable of taking 720p High Definition video via its 8 megapixel camera. It features dual LED flashes as well. Like most modern phone it also has a secondary camera used for video phone features. This camera is capable of 1.3 megapixels and provides a clear easy to see image.
The Lumia 900 is a great device and will surely become a flagship Windows mobile device for this company. The processing power of this phone and its on board GPU make it among the top competitors of its kind. Between Windows devices this of the HTC Titan II will be the way to go in 2012.
5. Xperia S
Sony’s line of Xperia smartphones features a number of products. The Xperia Ion, the Xperion acro HD, the Xperia NX, and the Xperia S were all introduced in Vegas’ 2012 CES. The S seems to be the frontrunner that has most people captivated.
The Xperia S features a dual core processor and 1 GB or RAM. It runs the Android Gingerbread OS and is available with 16 or 32GB of storage memory. The dual core processor has a 1.5GHZ bus speed which is capable of running any sophisticated contemporary program designed for smartphones today.
It features a 12megapixel camera and a secondary camera capable of images of 1.3 megapixels. Like most phones this secondary camera’s primary use is for video calling. The features and benefits of this phone far outweigh most other options from the CES. While it may not have the Titan’s 16 megapixel camera it has the processing power and storage capacity to make up for it and then some. A dedicated microphone and TrackID music recognition are also featured in the Xperia model of phones.
There are a lot of options out there for smartphone users. The Las Vegas CES of 2012 has helped to narrow it down to some of the most appealing devices.
