One of the most popular things to do on the Internet these days is to host a blog. Usually, when a person starts their first blog, they will end up with two, three or more. Having a blog is easy and there is a new host of software every day to make it easier. So why does a person want or need a blog? Here are the top 10 reasons.
1. You Have Something to Say
Of course the number one reason to have a blog is a forum for your voice. If you feel that you have something viable to add to the world or you just want a place to vent at the end of the day, then a blog just may be the place to do that.
2. Monetization
Really, no matter what the blog is about, it is going to eventually get traffic without any other effort than simply posting there every day. Traffic, combined with ad programs, equals money and that is a reason that has motivated many people to start a blog. Without some effort to promote the site or blog, the money will not amount to much, but the effort that it takes to turn the traffic into a good flow is not much and many people have turned this into their at-home job.
3. Helping Their Clients
A blog is a great way to provide additional information to pre-existing and new clients. Many times a website that sells a service or product will want a place where their customers can peruse industry information or look up some instructions on how to better use the service.
4. Traffic Generation
This is basically the same as number 3, but in reverse. In the previous entry, a customer from the main site would go to the blog to get additional information. A blog can also drive traffic to an e-commerce site. Through the search engines, the blog will get traffic based on the vast amount of information there, then that traffic will be directed to the main website for those that want to purchase an appropriate item. For example, a blog about how to combat the common cold may direct visitors to the main website that sells vitamins.
5. Charities and Causes
Much like the number 1 reason, but with a specific purpose, a person may use a blog to educate visitors about a need. This is great way for the common person to promote a good cause or a charity that needs help.
6. Gather a Group
Because most blog software or scripts allow for multiple users to post, a blog is a great way for a group with a common interest to provide information that will attract others to the group. This can be true for local groups and/or national, even worldwide groups. An example would be a local paintball group that uses the blog to announce games and get-togethers.
7. Product Reviews
The very nature of a blog makes it perfect for reviewing just about anything. The way that the title entry is categorized and displayed makes for a good solid display of hundreds of reviews. Product reviews is also a great way to make a little money. Each review can be about a product that you are an affiliate for and include the affiliate link.
8. Public Journal
There is more than one person on the Internet that simply wants to put their daily thoughts down for everyone to see. This can turn into a huge website that people actually visit. Personal thoughts can be censored back a little to not expose oneself to the world or the opposite is often done. Because of the anonymous nature of the Internet, a true, deep and anonymous journal can be put out there for the world to see.
9. A Blog
This is not to be sarcastic. Many people forget that blog is short for web log. The purpose was to log a specific event for others to see. It is a great use for a blog also. Let us say that “John” is taking the time to build a car from scratch. He can log every day he experiences for other to see.
10. Cross Talk
Some people will use the Internet to get other people’s opinion of things. A blog has the ability to accept comments for each entry. This means that the blogger can ever so often put down their opinion about a topic and invite comments to create a cross talk.
We hope you enjoyed this list of possibilities and welcome everyone to the world of blogging.
