In this edition of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), companies such as Sony, Samsung or Intel have allowed us to take a peek into the future, offering the option of experiencing a new world of possibilities.

New Prospects for Wearable Electronics

While manufacturers like Samsung or LG focused on showing some of their newest television models, including curved high-definition TVs and 4K screens capable of offering an incredible clarity and image fidelity, the fact is that other companies decided to put their efforts on portable devices.

Intel was, for instance, able to attract both the media and the public attention thanks to a conference that allowed us to take a first look at a new smart earpiece that is still currently in development and that can allow people to easily make appointments or check their email just by using a series of voice commands.

Although the earpiece does not make use of a screen, Intel intends to commercialize this device in the near future in order to compete with Google Glass.

Additionally, Intel also unveiled a new smartwatch prototype that is expected to become available in just a few months. While Apple and Samsung have also expressed interest in manufacturing similar devices, it seems like Intel is ahead of the competition, at least for the moment.

While wearable electronics were the main focus of the Consumer Electronics Show, tech companies are still centered on mobile phones, and that is why Sony has decided to use the CES to reveal their new Sony Xperia Z1S, a new smartphone that features a 5-inch 1080p resolution display and a 20-megapixel camera.

Discover Valve’s Innovative Steam Machine

Although Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have traditionally been the leading and most dominant players when it comes to the entertainment industry, the truth is that Valve has also made a name for itself in the last few years. While Valve has traditionally focused on PC enthusiasts, this company has recently shifted its attention to the living room, where it is much easier to make the most of a fibre optic broadband connection and where video game players can enjoy the advantages of a high-definition TV.

Valve’s Steam Machine is a very serious attempt to replace traditional video game consoles, allowing families to start using computers as media centers, something than can make it easier to stream films and music from the living room.

Valve has also allowed PC manufacturers, such as Alienware, Digital Storm or Alternate, to design their own Steam machines and equip them with SteamOS, a very flexible operating system that will allow users to enjoy an incredible performance for a very low price.
