    Don’t Keep Your Visitors Waiting: Monitor Your Blog’s Performance

    I am always concerned with the performance of my blog to the point where I try to test the performance on at least a weekly basis. My quest to make my blog perform at its best led me to use CloudFlare to cache and send my static content.

    There could be any number of reasons why performance for a blog, or website, decreases and many times you may be able to find the problem and fix it. Other times, such as the decrease in performance on your host’s servers, are out of your control besides alerting your host. In this post I’ll explain the tests I perform to test out the performance of my blog so I can find where my blog performance can be tweaked.

    Be Part of the Discussion: Use Good Commenting Etiquette

    Over the past few weeks I have been removing more of the spammy-type of comments from Technically Easy. I have decided to become more stringent with the type of comments that I allow on this blog.

    The comments that add to the discussion of the post’s topic are not deleted, nor are comments that don’t agree with my opinion. I welcome a good healthy discussion, but won’t accept comments that are created to try and generate a backlink. I decided to outline what I consider my commenting etiquette, which probably won’t differ much from your own idea of a good comment.

    Increase Your Web Site Performance with CloudFlare

    I recently experienced some performance issues on this blog and changed the template to more of a basic look and feel. By doing so I reduced the number of requests for all the pages on my blog, as well as the number of bytes that was transferred. In an effort to increase the performance even further, I signed up with an online free service.

    While I was on Twitter several months ago I noticed a tweet from Michael Aulia from Craving Tech regarding a service he just started using called CloudFlare. This site talks about increasing a web site’s performance while also making the site safer. I have been using their service over the past few months, and so far I have been impressed.
