Blog Posting Software

Blogging Platforms

  1. Blogger This is perhaps the easiest blogging option available. Blogger is free, incredibly easy to use, and you can place advertisements on it in order to make some supplemental income. Blogger is not the best option if you are looking for the ability to customize your site and to scale it into a full size business, but it is often the best choice for those who are just getting started out.
  2. WordPress One of the most popular pieces of blogging software available is WordPress. The software is available for free, which makes it one of the best options available. Through the use of various templates and plug ins, it is possible to achieve a fair amount of customization using the software. The program is very simple to learn how to use. There are two options to choose from when using WordPress. You can either set up a blog directly through the WordPress site, or install the software onto a separate hosting platform. If it is run through the WordPress site, you can do it for free. The site does not allow any time of advertising, however, so this is not an option if you are hoping to make money with your blog. This is not a problem if you install the software on a separate hosting platform, however. Of course, under these circumstances it is not free to set up.
  3. TypePad This is another choice that is very simple and straightforward to set up. Unlike WordPress and Blogger, however, it is not free. No third party host is required in order to set it up, however. The number of features available as well as the amount of customization possible make this a great option as well.
  4. Moveable Type This is one of the more advanced programs that is excellent for bloggers who are looking for the ability to create a great deal of custom content for their blog and set it up in a fashion that is extremely useful to work with. One of the best advantages of this option is the fact that multiple blogs can be set up without having to reinstall the software. This option may be too cumbersome for some people to work with, and for the price it doesn’t necessarily provide as much customization as some might hope for.
  5. Live Journal Live journal is an option which requires its users to pay a monthly fee in order to use it. The amount of features and customization available are limited as well, so live journal is not necessarily the best choice around.
