Depending on the model you want, buying a laptop can be a substantial financial investment. Models can range anywhere from $300 for a netbook to $2,500+ for the latest MacBook, and that generally doesn’t include software. However, there are a few great ways to get around high prices while still getting a great product.
Shopping online has long been recognized as a great way to save money, and it’s no different when shopping for laptops. Below are the best sites for purchasing your future laptop based on the quality of service they have and their low prices.

TigerDirect.com
TigerDirect.com doesn’t have the extensive collection of other online tech stores, but they have some of the best laptop deals of any other store. They also have an excellent support staff, and are quick to get your items to you. The site has recently undergone a huge overhaul, and now offers more products at the expected low prices.
NewEgg.com
NewEgg.com is a one stop shop for electronics, and like TigerDirect.com, they generally have some of the cheapest prices around. NewEgg also has a great selection and it often recommended by tech enthusiasts. The site also offers several daily deals which can allow you to pick up a great gadget or laptop for a fraction of the price you would have normally paid for it.
Amazon.com
What doesn’t Amazon have? Seriously, this shop sells everything from garden decorations to high-end laptops, and you can hardly ever find prices that beat theirs. Amazon also has a great customer service and support line, so if your laptop arrives with any issues, they’ll be quick to fix or replace it.
Although purchasing a laptop online can save you time and money, you don’t get the one-on-one care that you would if you were to visit a retailer like BestBuy. A smart way to shop for the laptop that is right for you would either be to research it online through sites like Consumer Reports, or go to a major electronics retailer and have someone assist you, and then purchase the item online later. That way you get the laptop that is perfect for your needs for the price that you want.

I haven’t bought a laptop from Amazon, but then again, Amazon has limited items here in Canada. I prefer to buy my electronics at either NewEgg or TigerDirect.

Amazon is great to find pretty much anything you would like to buy. I have used Amazon to buy many different things, and have taken advantage of their free shipping at times.

The is the one thing about Amazon that can be a pain – the number of goods that can be shipped internationally. Amazon does have a large selection of laptops, but many can only be shipped to the US.

I like using NewEgg as well. In fact I just bought a new Blu-ray drive from them recently. Their quick shipping is a huge bonus.
