When a person is first looking for a new laptop, they may feel overwhelmed by all of the choices out there. Stores that carry laptops, generally have several different brands and models for a person to choose from. Depending on whether or not the person knows what they are looking for, it could take a very long time to sort through the ones that will provide the user with what they need. One of the first things to decide is whether or not they want a laptop or a mini laptop.

The mini laptop holds several advantages over the more common full sized laptop. Depending on the person, the mini laptop may be the perfect choice. One of the first things that are great about mini laptops is their portability. With the majority of these laptops weighing only a pound or two, they are the ideal weight and size for travel. One of the best things about these laptops is that they can perform the majority of the same tasks as a full size laptop.
The reason that the mini laptop is so portable is because it does not have a few things that are commonly found on regular laptop. The first thing is that these laptops do not have a disc drive. The disc drive may be an important component for some people, while others may not prefer to have the extra weight. For those that do not care about the disc drive, then that is just one more reason why the mini laptop may suit them.
Another reason why the mini laptop is much smaller than a common laptop is obviously the screen size. These laptops generally have a screen size of about 11 inches. This is considerably smaller than full sized laptop screen, which can be up to 17 inches. These screens are still big enough for word processing, but may be a bit small for watching a full length movie on. While the processing speed of these laptops is not fast enough to run graphically demanding games, they can still provide excellent picture quality and most multitasking needs.
Overall, the choice between a mini laptop and a regular laptop is dependent on so many factors. The main factor is preference because many people enjoy a larger screen, but some people really need the portability of the mini laptop for travel. No matter what the choice, it is hard to go wrong with either product.

Some people just like to have smaller equipment that is easier to carry around. As long as mini laptops keep being purchased, they won’t go anywhere for a few years. As you said, however, we’ll have to wait and see.

Technology is replacing technology. From big, heavy-weight laptops to mini laptops. However, both of the laptops have their own importance. But the main advantage of mini laptops are, they are easy to carry. The main use for which one buy a laptop instead of desktop.

It is interesting to see how computers have progressed. In the future, each type of computer will fill a niche:
1. Mini laptops will be used by those that don’t wish to carry around a bulky laptop.
2. Laptops will be used by those that like portable computers with more power than a mini laptop.
3. Desktop will be used for the heavy duty applications: photo editing, video editing, and video games. Nothing compares with a desktop when it comes to video games..

There are handy benefits of having mimi laptop.
The huge difference is of course the transportable size, and surely the price. Though not all mini laptops are cheaper than big ones, but mostly are more cheap on price.
But since I am using big screen, I prefer to have bigger laptop than the mini ones.
Thanks

The size is a good option, especially if someone doesn’t like to carry around a full-size laptop. I prefer the larger laptop since I find it easier to type with.

Wow, my wife would love one of those. But I’m wondering if there is a market to those, especially with the new wave of tablet devices coming out.

I think laptops, whether mini or regular sized, will always have a market. Some people just like the power of a laptop and the full keyboard that isn’t on a screen.

I think mini laptops or the so called net books can be used to complement laptops. If you need portability and longer battery life then you use your mini laptop. If you are working on some projects or gaming or movies then a regular laptop or desktop is your best bet.
There are also tablets that provide both touch screens and keyboards and act as mini laptops.
So for basic tasks like Internet surfing, checking your email and using Office you can work with a mini laptop especially if you are always on the move. For more serious work, laptops still cannot be replaced.

I am constantly on the go and the mini laptop has been my constant companion. I just wonder how I ever lived without it! My main advantage the mini is that it is lightweight and very easy to walk around with. Also, it fits just about anywhere! It really is an awesome invention.

The fact that a mini laptop is so easy to carry makes it a great way for many to remain connected while traveling. While I prefer a full-sized laptop, many people wouldn’t want to carry around the weight of one.

mini laptop better for internet activity not for heavy programs

Mini laptops are definitely not many for large applications, or running many applications at one time. You pay for the small size and portability instead of the power.

Regular…no, make that REAL laptops are just as portable for travel. I travel overseas and abroad with mine. Are we really that lazy as a society that a computer that sits on your lap and can fit inside a bag worn on your shoulder is no longer considered portable?

Mini laptops have their own advantages. Though they are not for rough & tough work.

Now I know what makes a mini laptop portable. And what makes a regular laptop heavier.Though regular laptops have many advantages and benefits, I still really go for mini laptops. Just according to what is written here ‘One of the first things that are great about mini laptops is their portability.’ I agree
