The internet is filled with millions of websites all trying to compete with one another for rankings, whether directly or indirectly. As a result, a search result can bring back hundreds of millions of results when only a handful of them actually have the relevant information that was being searched for or answer the searcher’s question. To put it out there, the internet is becoming convoluted and heavily concentrated.
SEO advice on the internet is generally not helpful in any way whatsoever. Websites such as SEOMoz claim to be experts at boosting sites and providing assistance and advice for others, but most of their advice is of little help, if not worthless altogether. Of course them repeating the phrase, “Black hat SEO is not good” is correct, but if anyone on the internet have not figured that out by now, they are set to fail and should fail.
Being hit with a google penalty is no joke- especially if you depend upon your website for all or part of your income. And even if your website happens to be nothing more than a hobby blog which you don’t plan to monetize, google-penalty issues hurt.
Many years ago we could write a piece of content and post it online and maybe do a little seo marketing and over night we could be number one. There was no struggle in getting content online because this was around the time when blogs and wordpress was like none existence.
How would you feel if you were looking for ‘pizza shops in Dallas’ and reached a site with a tutorial to make a strange named mock-tail with the keyword ‘pizza shops in dallas’ thrown here and there? Of course you won’t react in a positive way as you didn’t get what you want and you’ll have to start the search over again from the beginning; unless, well if you were looking for a mock-tail to go with your Pizza!
