The log is a complete record of every single keystroke performed on the computer after the monitoring software is installed. This log is not only an essential employee monitoring tool but can also be used as a compliance check to prove or disprove alleged liability.

Screen Shots

It would be impractical to monitor or view every minute of an employee’s desktop computing experience. This is why effective PC Monitoring Software includes a Screen Shots feature that automatically takes a screenshot every time the user changes applications. This feature allows you to quickly review an entire day’s activities in just moments while still allowing you to zero-in on prohibited activities.

MSN, Skype, and Yahoo Messenger Spy Software

Employees who are Chatting or sending IM’s on company time via MSN, Skype, or Yahoo Messenger can devastate your bottom line. Therefore, the best employee monitoring software systems include MSN, Skype, and Yahoo Messenger Spy Software that discreetly record all IM’s for later analysis.

Surround Recording

Employee fraternization and personal phone use are significant drains on productivity and performance. To combat these problems, the most advanced computer monitoring software includes a “Spy Mode” that allows the business owner or manager to remotely activate the microphone on a monitored computer. Once activated, a Surround Recording is made of all the sounds, conversations, etc. picked up by the microphone.

Monitor Activities Without Detection

Although it’s a good idea and often a legal requirement to announce that employees are now being monitored, you need PC Monitoring Software that does so without detection. After all, if employees could see when a feature like Yahoo Messenger Spy Software was activated then it would cease to be effective as a desktop monitoring tool.

Conclusion

Does PC Monitoring Software really boost productivity by eliminating personal browsing and computer use by employees? According to the State of Vermont, the answer is a resounding “Yes”! After installing PC Monitoring Software statewide on all government employees for just one week, total Internet use dropped by more than 2300 hours-or the equivalent of 57 full-time jobs!

By discouraging person computer use and recording policy violations, PC Monitoring Software can significantly boost employee performance. To be the most effective, the computer monitoring software should include features such as: Keystroke Log; Screen Shots; MSN/Skype and Yahoo Messenger Spy Software; Surround Recording; Monitor Activities without Detection.

Jane has been in the business of providing quality information on PC monitoring software. So, what’s so special about this new operating system from Microsoft? The company is expected to unveil some details about Windows 8 at a Build conference scheduled between September 13 and 16, 2011 in Anaheim, Calif., which will bring together software developers from all parts of the world.

Windows 8 creates a revolution in the operating system instead of just an upgrade of Windows 7. According to Windows Experience corporate vice president, Julie Larson-Green, this release marks the next generation of the Windows platform. It is a complete reimaging of the operating system, from its chip to its interface. PCs running Windows 8 are new types of devices that range from touch-only, small screens to large screens that may either use mice and keyboards or not. The interface has been transformed to be compatible with new touch-centric hardware, making it more dynamic, fluid and fast while maintaining the power, connectivity and Flexibility of Windows.

Windows 8 allows for a full touch-optimized browsing that uses the hardware-accelerated power of Internet Explorer 10. At the same time, the new interface still works well a keyboard and mouse. Consumers can use any devices they prefer with the peripherals they like.

The Start screen is tile-based and brings a scalable and customizable view of the apps installed. Multitasking is even easier with the ability to resize and snap apps to the screen’s side.

These changes are important to maintain the relevance of the operating system in the changing market where an increasing number of consumers use smart phones and touch tablets for both work and leisure purposes. According to Gartner research, Smartphone sales are expected to grow by 56% while that of touch tablets is expected to soar almost 4 times in 2011. More consumers are switching to touch-sensitive mobile devices connected to the Internet.

Windows Mobile lags behind in the Smartphone’s race with more people going for iPads and iPhones from Apple as well as Android smart phones from Google.

According to the principal analyst and Pund-It research firm, Charles King, the stakes are high for Microsoft, which needs to “play outside its comfort zone.” While Windows still plays a pivotal role in the company’s success, its revenue dipped 2% in the 2011 fiscal year, with its operating profit falling by 6%.

Steven Sinofsky, Windows division president, said the new operating system will run on both traditional PCs and laptops using AMD and Intel processing chips. In addition, it will operate on ARM chips, which are used in the current smart phones and touch tablets. These chips require relatively less power, which is necessary for Microsoft touch tablets to have long battery life.

At the same time, Microsoft touch tablets must have the computing power to handle Windows business applications in current use. Some consumers keep away from the iPad because of its incompatibility with PC applications. This gives Microsoft an opportunity to cut a niche for itself in the growing tablet PC market.

Tablet PC Operating Systems

Windows Vista Web Sites

Dell Inspiron 6400 – Three Unknown Base System Devices

Stop Programs from Running When Windows Starts

Will Windows 8 be Compatible with Mobile Devices? is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)

What is the Windows Registry?

Windows

Windows Registry

In very simple terms, the windows registry is the database that holds all the settings for your Windows operating system. In even simpler terms: unless you know exactly what you’re doing, and have a fundamental understanding of the Windows registry, keep your hands off!

What is the Windows Registry Used For?

Some people have compared the Windows registry system to the DNA system that is found in humans. It literally holds all the information including software programs, user preferences, hardware configuration, operating system configurations and many other things. It basically stores all the tiny bits of information about your computer.

Any change you make to a program or hardware or system configuration is automatically stored in the registry system. There are different registry editor programs available that you could use if for some reason you need to make changes to the Windows registry. These will help you to back up the entire registry system and to backup, delete or restore registry keys.

How to Restore the Windows Registry?

If you have made a backup of your Windows registry, restoring the registry key is not too difficult to achieve. Firstly, you will need to find the backup you created. If you can’t locate it, run a search on your computer for a file ending in a .reg extension.

Once you have located the file, double click on it and follow the steps that will come up. Finally, it will confirm that your Windows registry has been restored and once you restart your computer, it will be working again.

Registry Cleaners

There are a lot of registry repair programs available on the internet and these work on most browsers. The top 10 browsers on the market today are:

Firefox

Google Chrome

Internet Explorer

Opera

Safari

Maxthon

Avant Browser

Phase Out

Deepnet Explorer

Space Time

The Common Windows Registry Cleaners

All the main registry cleaner programs are compatible with these browsers. Some of the best registry cleaner programs are:

Registry Booster

Registry Mechanic

PC Speed Maximiser

ReImage

Ace Utilities

Registry First Aid

Clean My PC

Registry Repair

Fix Cleaner

My Faster PC

It is often advisable to run a registry cleaner if you find your computer is running slowly or crashing often, before deciding to restore windows registry.

Restore or Repair?

The problem with restoring your windows registry is that you will lose every setting that you have changed since your last registry backup. Also, it is normal for the registry to become slightly ‘dirty’ with errors and corruption. Restoring your registry will help with this and solve problems, but so will a repair.

One thing to be very careful about, though, is that there are many programs available on line that claim to be registry cleaners and actually place viruses, malware and spyware on your computer. Many of these are free programs, which makes them more attractive to users. If you do come across a free Windows registry cleaner program, make sure it is from a name you know and can trust and double check it truly comes from this company!

<table cellpadding="0"class="amazon-product-table">

<img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41U9k%2Bw9azL._SL160_.jpg" class="amazon-image amazon-image" title="What is the Windows Registry?" alt="41U9k%2Bw9azL. As you know, by default when you start the contents of a cell with an equal sign, Excel will treat the values entered into the cell as a formula, and will perform the calculation and show the result.

However, as mentioned, you may experience the issue where the formula doesn’t appear to be calculated, and instead is displayed as text in the cell. There could be a few reasons why this is so, and this post explains how to correct the issue where the Excel formulas are displayed in the cell.

Resolving Excel Formulas are Displayed in the Cell

Show Formulas Option

The first reason why the Excel formulas are displayed in the cell of your spreadsheet has to do with the “Show Formulas” option. In the latest version of Excel, there is a button in the “Formula Auditing” ribbon toolbar at the top called “Show Formulas”. By clicking this button you can either display or hide the formulas in the Excel cells of the spreadsheet.

The easiest way, however, to show or hide the formulas is to use the hot-key combination. Pressing CTRL+` (the backquote character that is beside the 1 key and below the Escape key) will hide and show the formulas in the cells as well.

Check the Data Type

The formulas of the Excel cells can also be displayed if the data type of the cell is set to “Text”. With this type, all values entered into the cell is treated as straight text, so the formulas won’t be calculated properly.

In order to fix this problem, you should format the cell to something other than the text data type, such as a “Number” or even keep it at the default of “General”. Once you do, the results of the formulas should be shown instead of the actual formula.

Excel Formulas are Displayed in the Cell – When the Above Doesn’t Work

If you have tried the above two solutions, and you still see a formula showing on the Excel spreadsheet, then the last option is to check the actual contents of the cell.</p.

Ensure that there is no additional character before the equal sign of the formula. The equal sign must be the first character within the contents of the cell. If there is another character, remove the character and you should then see the result of the formula.

The above options show you how to solve the issue when the Excel formulas are displayed in the cell.

Syntax Error When Inserting a Record in Excel Using ODBC

Help!
