Mircosoft Word: Can’t Create File

I recently had problems when opening Microsoft Word attachments that were sent through e-mail. When I attempted to open that attachment Word produced a message indicating it can’t create a file and provided a path to a directory. The directory itself was a temporary directory that Word was using to open the attachment.

While the error itself wasn’t hard to temporarily fix, I wanted a more permanent solution. I decided to search me computer to find where this value was stored and change it. I outline how to find and change the value in this post.

Microsoft Outlook: How to Recover Hard Deleted Items

For many that use Outlook at work, you are probably connected to an Exchange server that manages your e-mails. In many instances, the administrator of the Exchange servers has probably configured the server to retain deleted items for a specified period of time. Word: You Are Working Without a Word Work File and Memory is Nearly Full

It became frustrating to say the least.

To find a solution to the problem I turned to the Internet. It appears that this error is quite popular as a search in Google produced many results. I tried many of the solutions, but none seemed to have worked for me. It wasn’t until I decided to look further into the error that I found the solution that appears to have fixed the problem.

Syntax Error When Inserting a Record in Excel Using ODBC

I have connected to various data sources in the past using ODBC, including Access, SQL Server, and DB2 databases. For the most part using ODBC is easy, since all you really need is the proper connection string and authentication. Once you have those, then you can easily run queries against the data source. I recently ran into an issue with inserting records into an Excel worksheet.

I had created the Excel worksheet and inserted the column headers, which I will call fields in this post. Once I had created the Excel workbook with the one worksheet, I attempted to insert a record into the sheet using vbscript and ODBC. When I executed the Insert SQL query, I continuously received an error. After doing some research, I solved my problem and I’ll explain what the issue was and how I fixed it in this post.
