A Utah based company HzO has come up with an innovative way of waterproofing electronic devices like smartphones. This method is known as WaterBlock technology and smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung are likely to adopt and apply this technology in their forthcoming products.

How it Came

Although waterproof mobile phone was introduced in Japan in July, 2007 (F704i from Fujitsu), most smartphones that are now available are not waterproof. Users of smartphones have been facing several problems. Makers of HzO WaterBlock technology claims that a man who fell in the Mississippi River, failed to call for emergency support from his soaked smartphone. He eventually got drowned. The makers of HzO WaterBlock vowed to find a solution to avoid such mishap. This is claimed to inspire the WaterBlock technology.

The Company

HzO is a private company that earlier intended to buy popular electronic devices, coat them with WaterBlock technology and sell them. There were several technical problems in this process. In recently concluded CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2012, held in Las Vegas they showed this waterproofing technology to Chairman of Samsung and impressed him. Other companies like Motorola, Panasonic and Apple have also shown their interest. Now, the company is likely to license the waterproofing technology to electronic device manufacturing companies like Samsung, Apple, and Motorola. The manufacturing companies are likely to integrate the waterproof technology while manufacturing the products.

How it is Different

There are waterproof casings available in the market for smartphones but most users hate to use them for their clumsy look. HzO WaterBlock technology found a way of keeping your device safe from moisture even if it gets submerged in water. The WaterBlock technology uses water repellent nano-scale film barrier for waterproofing. The company not only uses waterproof coating on the outer parts of the phone, it also applies the coating to internal components like logic boards, transistors and batteries. The thin and transparent coating is not visible and it does not add to the weight of the phone. As a result, your sleek smartphone maintains its smart look even after waterproofing.

Future Plans

HzO WaterBlock technology has the potential to revolutionize the portable electronic gadget industry. The technology is not only useful for smartphones but also likely to be used in tablets and other similar handheld electronic gadgets. The companies manufacturing sophisticated electronic gadgets are keen to adopt this technology.

Finally

Samsung and Apple are fierce competitors in field of smartphone and tablets. As such, if one of them adopts a remarkable technology like WaterBlock then the other is not in a mood to be left behind. Experts in the field of electronic devices predict that future gadgets from Samsung or Apple (like iPhone5) would be geared with WaterBlock.

Wait for the day when you can enjoy your swim while listening to music from your iPhone5!

Britney Danila is a Freelance and Staff writer who writes informative & creative articles on Television and Technology for various technology related companies including broadband expert. Apart from accidental data deletion or formatting, there are many other situations, such as file system corruption, operating system malfunction, virus infection etc., when the hard drive may fail and all your precious data will become completely inaccessible. However, now there are many Data Recovery Software available in the market, which may help you recover your data from any instance of logical hard drive failures.

Usually, a failed or crashed hard drive shows error messages on the screen, from which you can come to know the reason behind the failure. One of the error messages that you may have received while booting-up the system can be read as below:

No ROM Basic System Halted Error

After encountering the error, the system fails to boot and the data in it gets completely inaccessible. There are many possible causes behind the occurrence of the above error message. Some of them are as below:

No partition in the drive has been defined as active

Problems in the system BIOS settings

Severe corruption to the file system

Solution

In order to resolve the error, you can try the below options:

Try to boot the computer from your Windows system installation disc. After successfully booting from the disc, run the ‘fdisk’ utility and ensure that the partition with operating system in it must be set ‘active’.

If the problem still remains, check the BIOS settings and rectify the same, if there is any.

If you still have the error message and the hard drive is failing to boot, then format it and make fresh partitions. After formatting, you can restore the formatted data from any previously saved valid backup. However, if you have not taken any backup, try to recover the data using any reliable hard disk data recovery software.

These data recovery software are developed with highly advanced algorithms to scan through the troubled drives and recover the data back. These software are absolutely read-only and retrieve the data in their original format. Moreover, with graphical user interfaces, the software is easy to use, even without any further assistance.

Oliver Powell is the famous contributing author and Journalist that writes many more posts for different technology related sites. Is it infected with mobile malware? Smartphones are becoming smarter and more multi-faceted, what with bank transactions, payments, stored credits and fast data streaming. It’s not surprising, therefore, that phones will become more of a target for malicious intent. Follow these 15 tips to keep your smartphone safe in every possible way.

1. Get Hold of Tracking Software

Download Apple’s Find My iPhone service if you own an iPhone or a suitable Mobile Recovery app from your service provider. This will help you locate your phone in case its stolen. Certain tracking services allow you to remove erase phone data, such as Find My iPhone.

2. Check Out Application User Ratings And Permissions

Download applications from the net only after studying user ratings and comments. If possible, chat with users and get a first hand opinion of application performance and safety. If an application requests permission such as calendar accessing, or asks to message your contacts with offers, don’t download it.

3. Get a Screen Guard

Buy yourself a screen guard; you can buy a good one for about 50 USD. These thin plastic films ensure your screen doesn’t get scratched when you dump your phone along with your keys, makeup case or the contents of your glove compartment. Alternatively, get your phone laminated.

4. Don’t Forget To Install Antivirus

Get a good antivirus package from a reputable security company. The mobile antivirus application will check the permissions set for mobile apps to see if an app is doing what it’s meant to do. If any discrepancy is noticed, the antivirus package will inform you.

5. Be Aware and Stay Alert

If you’re performing bank transactions through your phone, be sure to check all credit and debit card statements. Your transactions and any data you transmit could be intercepted, including any text messages you send. Any small lapse in judgment can prove costly in the long run.

6. Buy Apps Only From Reputable Stores

Check out the reputation of mobile app developers and get as much feedback as possible before you invest. If you’re downloading from third-party sites, always check the URL first. Does the URL read well, or does it sound like a lot of gibberish? Reputable developers will take care of their URL as they care about search engine ratings.

7. Don’t Share Anything Sensitive Over Phone

The bad guys are always sniffing just around the corner. Don’t share your address, date of birth, home phone numbers, bank account numbers and other sensitive info over phone.

8. Dispose Your Phones Safely

When it’s time to upgrade your phone, don’t throw your old phone away as is. Follow the instructions in your phone’s manual to delete all your content, especially your contacts, personal information, call history, web search history and saved media content.

9. Keep the Phone In Its Pouch

The more your smartphone is exposed to abrasive objects such as pens, keys, coins, combs and so on. You’ll not only scratch your expensive phone’s screen, but you will damage the keyboard and your phone’s delicate circuits. To avoid all this, keep your phone in its original pouch when not in use, or invest in a soft, protective cover for it.

10. Avoid Exposure To Sunlight, Moisture And Chemicals

Don’t leave it on the dashboard of your car on a hot summer’s day; the heat can bake the delicate circuitry. Keep your phone in the slot next to your gear shift. Don’t hold your phone in your bare hands if you’re sweating. If your phone comes in contact with water, remove all detachments and dry the phone using a hair dryer.

11. Dust Your Phone Regularly

Regularly clean your phone’s batteries, covers and keyboard with a paint brush or a delicate cloth. Laminate your phone so dust won’t get into the ports and in between the keys.

12. Don’t Use 100% Of Storage Space

Don’t download more applications than your phone can safely hold while still executing required software. Use up to 75% of the storage space and do regular housekeeping to ensure unnecessary stuff is removed.

13. Password Protect Your Phone

Set a password for your phone and an auto-lock time of 2 or 3 minutes. This way, even if someone does pick up your phone, they won’t be able to access important information on your phone.

14. Back Up Data

Back up everything you have on your phone on to a flash drive. You need to schedule this task as many times as required in a month, depending on the sensitivity and volume of data you store on your phone.

15. Always Type In Browser Passwords

When you use social media and other accounts on your mobile’s browser, type in the passwords each time. This is to ensure a thief does not get access to your sensitive data if they manage to unlock your phone.

This article is written by Dean from conversion rate optimization Company Invesp.

Keeping Your Data Safe Online Requires Teamwork

3 Tips to Help You Get the Best from Your SIM Contract

Smartphones To Streamline Paperwork For Healthcare & Insurance Industries

3 Key Tips on How to Select the Right Tablet

15 Tips For Keeping Your Smartphones Safe is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)

4 Questions to Ask When Purchasing a New Computer

Desktop

Hardware

Laptop

Computer Purchasing

Purchasing a new computer is an exciting event, but with so many varieties on the market it can be a challenge to narrow down your options and pick one quality computer. There is no such thing as the best computer, only the best computer that meets your individual needs. Ask yourself honestly what you need to do with your computer. If it is primarily for checking emails and typing word documents, then you can get away with a basic model or focus more on looks that memory and storage capability. Those who work on their computers, upload videos to the internet or play online games might need faster processing speeds and a wider range of capabilities.

Will It Need To Be Portable? This is very important, as computer standards and prices change a lot when you change from a desktop to a laptop computer. For those who want an even more portable version, a tablet might be the answer. Remember that even if you can always use your laptop or tablet at home, but you can never take your desktop anywhere else.

What Is My Budget? Computers can be expensive, and we’re all trying to make our dollars stretch a bit farther. When it comes time to make a computer purchase, it is important to create a budget and financial plan before you start looking at any specific computers. By creating the budget first, there is a higher likelihood that you will actually stick to your plan. Remember that computers are available within a wide range of prices, so you can almost always find one within your price range; don’t let a limited budget make you think you need to forgo this necessity.

Will I Need Upgrades? Again, this requires you to think long and hard about what your computer will be used for. If you need lots of space to store picture and video files, be sure to include the cost of that extra space in your budget. Or, you may want to upgrade the operating system that comes for free with your computer. Remember that even these seemingly small accessories or additions can cause the overall price to go up significantly.

By answering these four questions carefully, it can be easy to narrow down your choices and find the right computer. Remember to adjust your expectations around your budget and also the mobility of the computer you want, whether that is a laptop, desktop computer or even a tablet PC.

Author Thomas Hathaway is a financial consultant and content contributor to paydayloans.org.uk, payday lenders for advances when you may need money before your regular paycheck arrives.

A Quick Guide to Purchasing Wireless Speakers

Why My Computer was Shutting Off By Itself

What is the Most Important Component in a Computer?

Extend the Life of Your Computer with A Processor Upgrade

4 Questions to Ask When Purchasing a New Computer is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)
