Learning to build backlinks can be hard enough on popular niches, but imagine trying to do it on obscure topics that have significantly fewer viable options. While it can be a difficult undertaking, it is important to not get frustrated and keep following through on proven methods that work. One thing I see on the Internet quite a bit these days in the age of search engine optimization is keyword-stuffing. Nothing ruins content and makes reading anything a bore more than a blog post or article full of repetitive keyword usage. Because people assume more keyword usage will attract better Google listings, this epidemic has risen to biblical proportions and it’s making the Internet hard to digest.
Google’s latest algorithm updates have focused more and more on local search results. With local companies getting more focus in today’s search results, of course their websites will also be getting the same amount of new attention. The problem with that is, most local company’s websites are absolutely terrible. Many smaller, local companies began putting up websites years ago before the new era of web design hit the web and before standards were really ever laid out for how a website should look.
The internet is filled with millions of websites all trying to compete with one another for rankings, whether directly or indirectly. As a result, a search result can bring back hundreds of millions of results when only a handful of them actually have the relevant information that was being searched for or answer the searcher’s question. To put it out there, the internet is becoming convoluted and heavily concentrated.
SEO advice on the internet is generally not helpful in any way whatsoever. Websites such as SEOMoz claim to be experts at boosting sites and providing assistance and advice for others, but most of their advice is of little help, if not worthless altogether. Of course them repeating the phrase, “Black hat SEO is not good” is correct, but if anyone on the internet have not figured that out by now, they are set to fail and should fail.
