Talking on a cell phone and possibly more distracting, texting while driving has been outlawed in many communities but still drivers face a constant barrage of distractions behind the wheel. Add to that police officers in a high speed pursuit putting two vehicles traveling at usually a high rate of speed – the police and the one trying to get away – and the dangers of driving go up even more.

The Driving Distractions Prove to be Fatal

What many fail to understand is that emergency vehicles, which could be considered rolling offices on the road, offer more distractions than most private vehicles. Consider the police cruiser with its on-board computer. The officer may be following a suspect vehicle and enters their license plate number into the computer. When the information is returned, the officer takes their eyes off the road to read the results.

Other emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and fire trucks, are also often distracted by information they are either receiving or reporting while on their way to an emergency. Despite their lights and sirens, others fail to yield resulting in an accident that may have been preventable. While the number of these accidents may have fallen recently due to public education about the need to yield to emergency vehicles, high speed pursuits continue to claim the lives of innocent victims as well as to those being chased.

Questioning the Reason for the Chase

Those who have had a loved one killed after being involved in an accident with someone involved in a high speed police chase often question the reason for the chase. Most argue that pursuits should be limited to the times when they are absolutely required, yet there are disagreements as to what those requirements should be.

Most police departments have specific guidelines of when a pursuit is considered justified as well as when the pursuit is to be halted. Many states also regulate the requirements for an officer to enter into a high speed chase and North Carolina especially is looking into police practices after seeing a spike of injuries and fatalities resulting from high speed police chases.

There have been fatal crashes involving drivers who either failed to obey an officer’s order to stop or speed away from a police check point that ended up in hot pursuit by the police. It has been argued that simply failing to obey an officer’s order should not be sufficient cause to engage in a high speed chase, putting them, the officer and many others at risk. Without reasonable knowledge that the driver is breaking any other laws, the dangers of the chase should outweigh the current need to begin the pursuit.

Filing a Claim Wrongful Death

Those injured as a result of a crash during a high speed chase do have the option of filing a claim for wrongful death, once it has been proven the death was a direct result of the chase. The person that failed to stop, or even the officer engaged in a chase for questionable reasons, could be held financially accountable for any damages or injuries resulting from the crash.

The post is contributed by John Smith; John’s passion for technology gives him enough knowledge which gives him a reason to write great stories, Visit his site Aanbesteding politievoertuigen and Aanbesteding politie.

GPS Tracking Technology Runs into Legal and Privacy Concerns

4G is an Indispensable Technology Whose Benefits Can’t be Denied

How Video Game Devs Are Using New Technology

Using New Technology to Drive Your SEO

Vehicle Technology Not Exempt from Driving Distractions is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)

Traffic Stats: January 2012

Blogging

Blog Analytics

Blog Traffic

Traffic Stats

Last month saw a fairly significant drop in my traffic throughout the month. While December ended on a high note, January sort of flattened out and eventually saw a downward trending curve throughout the month. In the past, however; January has always seen a decrease in both earnings and visitors as the holiday season has finished. I’m hoping that my traffic fortunes reverse over the next couple of months.

A Drop in Traffic

January didn’t start out too bad, but as the month continued, the traffic levels slowly dropped. It can be frustrating to see traffic levels decrease, especially since I had good traffic months leading up to December. There will always be ups and downs while managing a blog or website online, so I’ll just take this as one of the downs and move on.

Traffic Stats - January 2012

The graph above doesn’t look too good, especially comparing the traffic at the beginning of the month to the end of the month. I’m hoping that I can reverse the trend going forward, but it will require some more work and more publishing. Year over year, the traffic was still up as can be seen in the following table.

Metric

January 2011

January 2012

Change

Visits

63,892

103,814

62.48%

Pageviews

91,368

135,611

48.42%

Unfortunately, I am just above 100,000 visitors for the month, and my target of 200,000 for the year end is looking like an unachievable goal. Still, I wil keep that target and will have to work a bit harder now to achieve that goal, but first I will need to reverse the downward traffic trend.

Traffic Sources

The largest drop, which can also account for most of my traffic drop last month, is with the search engines. I lost roughly 12,000 search engines visitors last month compared to the previous month, which accounts for almost the total drop in visitors for the month.

My traffic sources are shown below.

Traffic Sources - January 2012

While the number of search engines visitors dropped, it still remained my largest traffic source, albeit, a bit smaller in terms of percent. When looking into a more detailed view of where the largest drops occurred, I notice that many of the pages were probably visited during the holiday season by people looking for information.

I’m hoping that the drop in traffic is only temporary, or that some of my newer posts will start ranking for some keywords to make up the difference. Time will only tell in that regard.

While my blog experienced a large drop in traffic last month, I am still optimistic that this trend will reverse over the next few months. When comparing my traffic from January 2011, I also noticed a drop during the month from December 2010. I won’t be taking any drastic steps to try and improve my traffic other than continue to publish content. I’ll have to continue to watch my traffic levels and evaluate the numbers going forward.

Traffic Stats: June 2011

Traffic Stats: July 2011

Traffic Stats: December 2011

Blog Traffic Stats – One Year Later

Traffic Stats: January 2012 is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)

Ways to Boost Your Website Positioning Methods

SEO

Web Site

Website Design

You cannot find any serious technique to explain advance SEO techniques from various SEO services worldwide. This means it is designed with technology that is pretty close to what writing looks on paper for when you are reading e-books.

Connectivity. Just about all devices will come with Wifi. You need to also think about Bluetooth, an Ethernet port (just in case), and a SIM port is extremely important, if you want to be on the move and get the most out of your machine. USB ports are common, but you don’t want to have to hand over more cash on a modem for 3g networks. Talk with your retailer about what kind of mobile and data plan they will include in your purchase. They should help you out with some of the cost it is going to take to be online as you use your machine during your commute to work, for example.

Operating System. The operating system is a big issue. It needs to be something you are used to. That is one of the best things I like Apple. I am used to iOS for my smartphone, which is the exactly the same as the operating system on the tablet. Samsung’s Galaxy tablet is very popular, is very reasonably priced, and runs on the Android system. If you have an Android phone, it might be a perfect choice. Don’t forget the new Windows 8 OS is coming out next year, and that is a very special operating system that will run on all devices, meaning it will be the same operating system for your phone, tablet, laptop and desktop. It won’t be out for about another 6 months, and so this is a real issue of consideration for some people.

Whatever device you buy. Make sure you get guaranteed computer support from your manufacturer or retailer. It is an essential of owning a device today. There are even new companies, which supply these packages for home-users with a limited monthly fee plan.

<table cellpadding="0"class="amazon-product-table">

<img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/312O7GZBacL._SL160_.jpg" class="amazon-image amazon-image" title="3 Key Tips on How to Select the Right Tablet " alt="312O7GZBacL. In fact, businesses that aren’t using social media platforms can expect to fail due to lacking online visibility and customer loyalty. However, using social media isn’t always blissful. One wrong Post or Tweet can ruin your brand in a matter of seconds. In the last year alone, large companies such as United Airlines and Chrysler have taken a beating because of poor social media management.

Disgruntled employees and angry customers can quickly take their thoughts to the web which can tarnish your brand for life. But a social media disaster doesn’t mean you should shut your doors for good. In fact, even those who have suffered from a disaster are still able to recover.

A few quick tips to help you recover from a social media disaster should one occur include:

1. Do Not Panic

Panicking won’t make your social media disaster go away, it won’t make your Fans love you again, and it won’t return your brand back to spotless. All panicking will do is keep you from reacting appropriately and in a timely manner. Don’t let your fear and emotions govern you. After committing a social media disaster, you must, at all costs, remain calm.

2. Accept What You Have Done

Whether you posted some choice words on Facebook or Twitter or submitted an inappropriate video to YouTube or Givit, there is no turning back after you hit post or submit. The inappropriate content you just created forever belongs to the web. Sure, you can delete your comment or post, and you should, but there is no way to completely remove it from the web. Instead, accept what you have done so that you can continue to move forward and begin the recovery process.

3. Figure Out Who You Have Offended

Don’t just start making blind apologies. A half-hearted apology will be felt by your Fans and Followers, and they will quickly reject it and probably attack you more for it. Instead, figure out exactly who you have offended and why. This will make your apologies more thoughtful and thorough, and therefore more likely to placate those you offended.

4. Start Apologizing

Once you have figured out who you have offended, you need to begin apologizing politely and profusely. This is an okay time for you to almost seem as though you are graveling because, in reality, your business’ reputation and longevity is in the hands of those you have hurt. Try to do what you can within your means to appease those you have offended, just make sure that you don’t further insult them with a shallow apology or promise of a kitschy product.

5. Be Ready to Endure the Long Road Ahead

Recovering from a social media disaster is never a quick process. As much as we would like to believe that people quickly forgive and forget, that isn’t exactly the case. In order to restore your brand, you will have to regain the trust of your customers which may take some time. After you have apologized, learn from your mistakes and continue running business as usual. It will take some time, but business should become stable once again.

A social media disaster doesn’t need to mean the end of business. In fact, several companies have been able to recover and actually profit from their social media failures. Simply take the time to act quickly and thoroughly apologize, and you should be on the way to a successful recovery.

Getting Started with Social Networks and Social Media

Essential Ingredients of Effective Social Media Marketing

7 Unnoticed and Cheap Social Media Marketing Strategies

Online Repute Building Of Physicians – Social Media Is The Right Choice

5 Tips for Surviving a Social Media Disaster is a post from: Technically Easy
This feed is for personal, non-commercial use only.
(Digital Fingerprint: 1a03dc4332cf9dca0bc3737c1cc3095c)
