Skype has never been in a security issue or anything related to it but recently Skype has also changed its lead as users complain of bogus messages and problems with their chat history. You might have experienced something troublesome with your Skype history as well and that’s not your computer playing games with you or a malware attack, its Skype’s new update that has created the problem with Skype users.
Recently Skype launched the new update for its service, as user’s updated their current Skype versions for the newer one they started experiencing bugs and bogus messages in their lists. Skype’s new privacy bug has caused certain instant messages to be sent to the wrong contact and Skype’s users are new being warned against this new problem.
According to Skype this problem doesn’t occur all the time but only when a user’s Skype client crashes during the instant messaging conference which then results in the IM sent before the crash to go to a perfectly random Skype contact once you log back into Skype so once you log back into your Skype check if any of your messages have been sent to other contacts.
Skype’s internal development service did not even know of this bug issue until Skype’s Support received this notification from a certain Skype user. According to the Skype user SunnyLady 778, her thread was a little off-track as the messages she had already received and read were coming on her notification list again and her chat history was being copied and sent to users itself. The user was quite confused with this problem and this is when Skype’s customer management department took the lead and uncovered the real problem behind this issue.
Apart from SunnyLady 778, Skype has received complaints from five other individuals about their Skype IM history. They saw messages gone to other contacts and although in some cases they were just one or two statements, in many cases they were the whole conversations lists of a week or even a month. Considering the sheer volume of this problem is quite low Skype isn’t rushing to fix it as soon as possible but they say that they’re trying to find out the reason behind this problem and fix it soon.
Although Skype is working on this issue it’s still unknown when this bug will be fixed. Skype’s management says that they’re designing a new update for its users and that will possibly take care of this problem but again it’s quite a distress for Skype users. Considering Skype is the most sought application for online conferencing and is used by individuals as well as organizations the issue needs to be fixed as fast as possible or many could face problem. Nobody wants their personal conversations to go into the hands of other users; although Skype is built for the basic task of video calling, instant messaging is also a big part of its product base.
Before this issue, any problems that were related to Skype came from video calling problem and issues with voice and multi-conferencing. Skype hasn’t known any bug problems or instant messaging issues till this recent update and that could lead to a problem with its reliability and validity.
Although Microsoft claims that this Skype bug problem isn’t very huge, it’s a small rare illness and apart from six to seven users complaining about this problem there hasn’t been any large scale mass complaint registration it’s still beneficial for Skype user’s to resort to video calling rather than instant messaging till Skype brings about the new updated version and the privacy bug is fixed.
