I recently had to archive large files on a DVD and used Winzip to accomplish this task. As many of my regular readers know, I am obsessed with archiving my digital photos. I have written several posts regarding my experiences with archiving, including my workflow. While I mainly talk about archiving my photos, I also have been archiving my home videos. This is where I encountered a problem.
I archive my data onto Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs, which can hold up to 4.7 GB of data. The problem with some of my videos, is that I have downloaded an entire DV tape, which produced video files that are 12 GB in size. I have tried to split the video into separate videos (there is more than one on a tape), but haven’t had much luck. I decided to instead just split the file into smaller pieces so it would fit on several DVDs. I’ll explain how I did that in this post.

I have recently switched my advertising at the top of my right sidebar from Entrecard to CMF Ads. While Entrecard was great to me when I started my blog, I felt it had run it’s course and it was time to switch.
Similar to Entrecard, CMF Ads allows me to display ads from those wishing to advertise on my site using a square 125px banner. While many may look at the widget and think it is the same as Entrecard, you will be mistaken. In this post I will look at CMF Ads and discuss the differences between CMF Ads and Entrecard.

For the past few months I have offered private advertising on Technically Easy. You can see the banner ads in my right sidebar, and in the header. In the past I have tried various online ad providers, but didn’t have much success. When I did have success, I was usually paid a percentage of what I actually charged.
A few months ago I looked into OIOpublisher, which is a Wordpress plugin. Since then I have sold several ad spaces through OIOpublisher, and have made 100% of what I sold. In this post I look at OIOpublisher and what it provides in terms of advertising for your blog.

I purchased my first digital camera in 2002, and it included two very different image formats: a Raw and JPEG format. Back then I didn’t know much about the Raw format, but quickly learned what it was, and soon began using the Raw format instead of the JPEG format.
Much like the camera I had back then, many digital cameras include the option of choosing between the two formats. There is a great debate about which format is better, and why you should choose one over the other. In this post I will add my two cents to the debate and allow you to choose.

I have had an issue recently when connecting to my wireless network without rebooting. The issue came about when I had dropped my wireless connection from my laptop, but when the router had reinitialized, Windows wouldn’t connect to the network.
There could be many times where you could lose your connection, and can’t reconnect to the network without restarting your machine. In this post I’ll talk about two commands you can execute to try and reconnect to your network.
