Entrecard - the Ultimate Blog Widget

I have written about Entrecard in the past, and have benefited from using the widget on my blog. I mentioned that for new blogs Entrecard can help generate traffic and subscribers.

This past week Entrecard announced a partnership with SezWho. It was a much anticipated announcement among the Entrecard faithful, but the question is what does this mean to those that use Entrecard?

The Partnership

For those that author blogs know that comments are an important part of blogging. A blog with many comments on the posts is usually one that is visited often because the blog looks popular and invites conversation. Comments written on a blog are more than just comments, they can encourage a dicussion among visitors.

Unfortunately, for many new blogs getting comments on the posts can be a difficult task. Most people won’t comment if a blog looks new or they don’t see other comments on any of the posts. To help with this Entrecard has entered into a partnership with SezWho.

Entrecard is a way of helping small blogs become known on the Internet through advertising with the blog’s “business card”. You earn credits from a variety of ways, and then use the credits to purchase advertising on other blogs. This has helped Technically Easy greatly.

SezWho is a profile service that tracks such things as comments, posts, and messages left on many sites throughout the Internet. For users of the system, you can rate the many posts, comments, and messages to add credibility to what others have to say.

With the Entrecard and SezWho partnership, you can now be rewarded for leaving credible comments on other blogs listed in the Entrecard system.

The Benefits

There are a few benefits to the partnership. They include:

  1. You will get more comments on your blog since Entrecard members are now rewarded for leaving comments.
  2. To go with the first point, you will earn credits for writing a comment on another Entrecard blog with the SezWho plugin installed.
  3. You can rate posts, and comments of other’s as well as have them rate yours. If you consistently write good comments and posts, this would hopefully help your credibility.
  4. You can use the SezWho system to vew the comments, posts, and messages of other users. This may help you find more good content online.

With the latest partnership, I can see that the Entrecard system has just gotten better. With the increase in traffic, and now, hopefully, the increase in comments, Entrecard is one of the best systems, and widgets that you can install on your blog.

Have Your Say

  • With this new partnership, are you going to use SezWho with Entrecard?
  • Do you think the Entrecard-SezWho partnership will increase comments?
  • What should Entrecard work on next?

Ok — now I see the infamous obnoxious popup and know what everyone is talking about. I wonder why it doesn’t seem to do this on wordpress blogs. At least on my site, you have to click the profile link thing to make it pop up.

I like your icons — they stand out from your page pretty good. I have some made for all my sites, but so far have only been able to put them on one as I don’t have a link to modify the css on the other two. It sucks, but maybe sezwho will get around to my issue sometime soon.

I have already started a habit of reading more posts from those that drop their card on me. Not that I didn’t read any posts before I joined SezWho I mostly read and left if I didn’t have anything relevant to say.

I think the partnership will change the feel of Entrecard to more of a social website than just an advertising network. I haven’t seen a big spike in my comments since joining SezWho but I have noticed a slight drop in my bounce rate on my page. The longer people stick around on your blog the more likely they are to leave a comment.

If anything I think Entrecard should work on their forums. I’ve been staying away from them because I find them to take far to long to load and I prefer to be able to refer back to what I am replying to than to have to hit the back button. Some improvement is needed there.

    yeah i second majik

I think that SezWho needs to step up a little more for there to be a difference. SezWho doesn’t work very well on Blogger–at least my blog.

  5. Paul says:

I am also having issues with SezWho on Blogger. From what I have seen on their forums, they are working on it.

I think the Blogger support is new as it looked like it was in Beta when I signed up.

Sezwho and entrecard partnership had created a wonderful team up that would surely rock the blogger world. They have helped made commenting on other blog more interesting.

  7. Lisa Irby says:

I see you implemented the Turnip of Power rating icons for SezWho. Very cool touch. Were they “technically easy” to install? LOL

I do like the overall partnership with SezWho and EntreCard as I’m starting to see new commenters from EntreCard appear on my blog (even on older posts). It seems people are commenting but I wonder how many are rating (and that’s the real value)? I try to rate when I can.

SezWho is another way to motivate Entrecarders to more comment. Look at it this way. Alexa stop recognizing Entrecard referred traffic. Alexa still recognizing comments reffered traffic. So, it is a plus point for all of us to increase Alexa ranking to a new level.

  9. Paul says:

@fatherlyyours: I agree with the great partnership. It certainly has made commenting on other blogs interesting.

@Lisa: The icons were very “technically easy” to install. As for the ratings, I wondered that myself, but we will see how they work out.

@atniz: After the change, my Alexa rating has gotten worse, even though I am receiving many more visitors. I’m not sure what Alexa is doing, but in my opinion it doesn’t seem very accurate.

  10. Although I guess, we shouldn’t expect a massive spike of comments on our blog/site with the new partnership.

People who’d just prefer to drop cards will still drop their cards and leave.

    Some might stop

I like to commenting others site eve without sezWhoo I confused how to use that tools. I was install the plugin to my WP blog few month ago and I unplug it.

  12. Deb says:

I m not going to install SezWho on my blogger blog yet and I’ll decide when the dust settles. Right now it still seems too buggy, and I’ve already got a nice inline comment form installed, not the popup, and I dont want to damage any codes. I’m receiving comments and I know my visitors are not commenting to get EC credits, but I send some along anyway, especially to new commenters.

Regarding Alexa, I’ve found my Alexa ranking improving steadily. Dont rely fully on EC for traffic.

  13. Paul says:

@Deb: I took a chance and installed SezWho, and I know why you mean with regards to it being buggy. My posts have a rating, but the ratings don’t show up with the comments.

I hope SezWho fix the issues soon, or they may start to lose the blogs on Blogger.

I recently started using EntreCard for my blog too. So far I’ve heard a lot of positive comments about it so I decided to sign up. I’ve dropped you a card. I hope you find my website useful. Good luck in increasing your traffic! :)

My website says “free iPod Touch” but it’s mainly a website for iPod Touch and iPhone news, tutorials, and downloads.
