Default User ID and Password for Various Routers

Remembering my WRT54G default password and user ID can be difficult if I ever needed to reset my router. I have received a few e-mails regarding the default user ID and password for different routers. Most people that ask for this information usually have reset their router back to the factory default, but can’t seem to find the instructions to the router.

I have decided to begin compiling a list of default user IDs and passwords for various routers. This is by no means a complete list, but I will add to it as time goes by.

The following sections provided the default user ID and password for different routers. For the values that are listed as (blank), simply leave that field empty.

Linksys Router Default User IDs and Passwords

ModelUser IDPassword
BEFSR41adminadmin
BEFW11S4(blank)admin
WAG54Gadminadmin
WAP54G(blank)admin
WET11(blank)admin
WET54G(blank)admin
WRT54G(blank)admin
WRT54GS(blank)admin
WRT54GL(blank)admin

D-Link Router Default User IDs and Passwords

ModelUser IDPassword
DI Models (eg. DI-524)admin(blank)
DIR Models (eg. DIR-625)admin(blank)

It is important that you change these values in your router configuration to secure your router. Never leave these values as the default. I can now use this post if I needed to lookup my WRT54G default password and user ID.

If you have a router that you would like added to the above lists, then send me an e-mail or leave a comment and I will add it. The router can be from any manufacturer, not just Linksys or D-Link.

I am taking a self paced security course.

The instructor amazed me by explaining that Goggle – default password yields a couple hundred… and, yes, most of the ones you listed are there.

I have been a geek since going to work at NASA as an apprentice in 1968. I know a little about a lot. I was an electrician, an electronics tech, added computer interfacing and programming, wrote ‘driver’ interfaces, got into PLC control. Retired as a controls engineer in a high energy wind tunnel (Mach 4,5 up to mach 8), with a BS in Comp Sci. I mention this to point out how the progression of my experience grew as technology advanced. Now I am the head of the computer network department at a local college. I like teaching.

I constantly read to stay current with advancements, and I constantly look for articles that explain technology slightly differernt than I do. I love train the trainer get togethers, and always learn something from other instructors.

My compliments on your blog. You get it right. You explain it well, you keep it simple. There is nothing unflattering about keeping it simple. It is a style I have worked hard to develop. Now it feels natural.

When you are ready to take a pay cut, like after retirement, please consifering teaching. We need more teachers. We have enough instructors. Hats off for a job well done. Keep it up.
