Thanks so much!
That was a really complete and comprehensive explanation.
Thank you very much!
Hello. I tried to set up my router yesterday, but I entered the IP address I had at the time I set it up. I was following some other instructions online that were not very clear. I managed to secure the network and figure out how to enter my passphrase, but I can’t get on now – it won’t validate. I’m guessing this is because I no longer have that IP address that I told the router to accept. I don’t know what that address was now, though. I’ve been looking online for help. How do I sign back on to change the IP address back to the one in this article if I don’t have that number? Thank you!
I’m not sure exactly which IP address you are referring to: the one assigned to your computer or the actual IP address of the router. To connect, you don’t really need to worry about the IP addresses, as it should be handled by the router and your computer automatically, unless you have turned off DHCP.
If you can’t connect through a wireless connection, try connecting to the router using a network cable – you don’t need the passphrase to connect this way.
If all else fails, you can always reset your router back to factory defaults outlined in How to Reset the D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router.
Hi,
That’s what I did – I reset it. I had entered the IP address that I had when I was setting it up (googled “what’s my IP address?”), but that wasn’t my IP address anymore. I reset the router, though, and went through your directions, and they worked great.
Thank you!

hi paul ..
i set up wireless router of D-link model no DI-624 , i gave the ip address 192.168.0.1,
screen appear user name and password, I gave the Admin username than Ok ,
but not accepted.
kindlu help me to set up my router..
thanks
Have you changed the password in the past?
Flicker is really great when sharing photos over friends and families. I love the resize feature of Flickr.;“
I tried to set up my router yesterday and it would not go any further then the admin ok then 401 comes up on the next screen with a blance. I have not put any password for anything I am just starting.
Try resetting your router and try to secure it again. There could be a setting that is preventing your from getting to the admin pages.
I did try by putting a pin in the reset hole but that didn’t do anything.
Did you hold the rest button in long enough? I know the button can be finicky at times. A 401 indicates authentication is possible, but it has failed or hasn’t been provided. Did you enter your admin and password information correctly?
When I get to the spot where you put the word admin and then no password when I go enter that is when I get the 401 message.
I don’t think my spelling helps when I click on ok a blank screen ups up with the number 401 and I can go no further
I reset my router following this outline, but when i get to the security part I selected wpa-psk. I entered a new passphrase and hit acept/apply but it doesnt apply changes. Please help, my network is unsecured.
Me too.
Is there any message that appears on the screen? Did you enter the same passphrase in both boxes?
Nothing appears on the screen, but I definitely entered the same passphrase for both boxes.
What browser are you using to access the administrative pages? Some browser may not be compatible with the pages. If you aren’t, try using IE as most manufacturers seem to code for that particular browser.
Ah, it works with IE. Thank you!
I’m glad it worked for you. It may help others that are having the same problem. I just wish those admin pages worked in other browsers too.
That was an awesome post… it was detailed just enough to get me on the right track and was very concise. Thanks.
No problem.
Very good, easy instructions and it worked!
