Adelaide Computer
To my ISP modem I have connected a router. To this router I have connected one switch (16 ports). To this switch I have connected another switch (16 ports), which provides connects to 24 computers. I am not able to connect to the internet, except from one machine. In this topology, can I configure the router to provide internet connectivity for all computers?
PLease help; I am trying to help a non profit organization.
Thank you.
What happens when you connect only one switch? Are the computers on that switch able to connect?
If you open a command prompt from the computers that aren’t connecting, and type “ipconfig”, is there a default gateway IP address specified?
Does your router assign enough IP address for the number of computers?
Paul,
Only one computer connects with one switch. The router is capable of assigning multiple ips, enopugh for both dwitches. Should I hard-code those ips into each machine? I yhough DHCP wouls take care of that (would it?) –On the default gateway, I have to check….
DHCP should assign the IP address, provided the machines are also enabled to use DHCP instead of hard-coded IP addresses. The default gateway on all the machines should contain the IP address of the router.
